What’s my X for?

18 Apr

Well, a little around three hours ago Prime Minister Theresa May has called for a General Election and I am already tired of the media reporting and I’ve got another seven weeks until Election Day  (June 8th) and the harping and bemoaning after the result. Is there such a thing as election reporting fatigue?

But this does drag up a recurring question – exactly what am I voting for with my all powerful X?

  • Is it Mr(s) Somebody
  • Is it Mr(s) Somebody representing This Political Shambles Party
  • Is it This Political Party
  • Is it all of the above
  • Is it none of the above coz we don’t know

People griped about not having voted for TM to be PM, well I’ve never had a paper asking me to select a PM. I’ve also never had a tick box for a coalition so absolutely nobody ‘elected’ the Government in 2010.

So, batten down the hatches for political fliers filling up the recycling bin. Go raid the charity shops for cheap DVD’s to avoid the endless media drivel. Deactivate your social media accounts as opinionated ‘erberts get hot under the collar over trite trivialities.

Already the media reporters have nick-named this the #BrexitElection, well only if you (the media) harp on and don’t give equal time to issues such as education, NHS, social care, police and justice, defence, taxation, benefit system AND how changes can be implemented, costed and monitored. But I am a stupidly common sense semi-intelligent person, so I know that ain’t gonna happen.

*sigh* if I go missing again, I’ve gone into hiding, or hibernation, or been committed…

Realistically speaking, you, me and uncountable others will try to switch off and hibernate, particularly from the Murdoch Press and like media, which has enjoyed stirring up political and social chaos, appealing to the lowest common denominators to perform their revenge on Britain since all the hacking stuff came to light. Politicians are not free of their media masters, they operate through them. Also a number operate with them.

Just so long as we try to do our own thing and use our vote……my near ancestors took risks to obtain the women’s right to vote and I will be using mine.

Local council elections early next month; [almost] unexpectedly followed hard on their heels by a General Election. **sigh**

At this rate, AnneMarie, we’ll be manipulated to do the Governing party’s disciplining of its own flock, while being told we’re giving a mandate to give freedom to do whatever the winning party dreams up over the naughty ‘political others’ of the different flocks.

I was wholeheartedly with Brenda this afternoon, who was someone in a pop vox survey, recorded by a Radio News reporter. She literally cried out from the gut, “What again, what do they want to do that for…there’s no need, etc. etc.”. I don’t know if I would have politely contained myself the way she did. I’m sure I would’ve included a few very choice expletives (and deletives).

Now we know why and how people can be turned off, bigtime, from politics.

So far my favourite bit has been watching Larry the Number 10 cat on the doorstep during the BBC 1pm news.

I have purposefully avoided watching TV today. An earful, ongoing since noon is more than enough to digest for me. xx

Incidentally, was Larry escaping or hiding?

Firstly he was sitting there surveying before sauntering off towards number 11. Apparently he crossed the street and sort affection from a reporter during a vt section. Lol.

We all know what ever is said or reported has no correlation to what it is truly like in office.

I shall remain blissfully ignorant of all of it. Never watch the news, don’t know anything about UK parties or elections or anything else. Only ever voted using a voting machine in the US. The only on paper voting we did was for prom king or queen in high school… and other like things…

So I have no real comment other than to say none of it makes any difference to me. “Not my circus, not my monkeys.”

I shall be biting my tongue and ‘not commenting’ on social media as the it’s all the ‘brexiteers fault’ brigade once again take to their keyboards, along with those that think it fun to deride anyone with a differing opinion, I shall sit back and watch it all happen, and whoever gets in watch the ‘Other’ side blame everyone else and bemoan the failing state of our country because of them. Same old same old, anyone for wine and chocolate?

I have a bottle of schmirnoff ice from Christmas, I think it might get a severe battering …. Going to try and make it survive until June. Slim chance but miracles have been known to happen, apparently.
