My Bubble Done Burst

29 Nov

My bubble just burst and BFF has left to return home. You see she had planned to come visit as soon as she got home from her June/July visit and again as her travel date approached there were changes with Covid rules that threw everything in the air. Anyway, it was decided that her visit would indeed be classed as ‘essential’ because she’d be my primary sole care provider, leaving the hovel only to get food. So our plans went ahead ……. a few minutes ago her taxi turned the corner and she’s setting back for home.

We always have fun, eat foods we don’t usually eat, watch films and documentaries, play games, talk, laugh, cry, discuss, entertain and be entertained my Signor NotMyCat, go to bed late, lay in even later. A few chores get done and of course online shopping for those thought-about-semi-essential items. I became designated yarn unwinder as she crocheted a ripple blanket, this time breaking her speed record (I’m claiming credit for it). But all too soon it comes to a close, and I am eternally grateful to BFF’s hubby for letting her come for the extended pj-party.

Our viewing list is quite extensive when seen altogether.

  • The Queen’s Gambit
  • The Crown (series 4)
  • Making A Murderer (both seasons)
  • Joe Exotic The Tiger King
  • Secret Love (Netflix documentary)
  • Stepmom
  • Johnny English
  • Johnny English Returns
  • Johnny English Strikes Back
  • Mr Holland’s Opus
  • Extremely Loud Incredibly Close
  • Forrest Gump
  • Sweethome Alabama
  • Atonement
  • My Big Fat Greek wedding
  • Bridge of Spies
  • October Skies
  • Little Man Tate
  • Most Hated Woman in America
  • Twenty Feet From Stardom
  • As Good As It Gets
  • Ruth & Alex

I cannot begin to fathom the intelligence of Joe Exotic and the Making A Murderer documentaries, it certainly made for conversation and the Making A Murderer became compelling viewing as we waited for the next twist and turn to the fates of the family members. If you’ve got twenty hours spare I’d recommend it, it will boggle and bewilder beyond sanity.

Soooo, yeah, back to my usual with a bump…..

Pleased to hear that BFF was deemed essential on both sides of the border. We would have been clear on it over the northern side as it has been spelled out umpteen times. On radio, depending which channels you tune in to, I have heard advice for Englandshire, though two experts gave opposing answers, once.

I have beard about one film you have on your list, there’s been the inevitable media critiques about The Crown, otherwise, I have seen three films on this list.

Good to hear about ‘not my cat’. Did the surmised relative of nmc arrive to join the party?

Any thought on your high strength Vit D?

It’s just gone 4.30pm. It is pitch black here, very cold outside and the curtains are drawn.

    Xxxx

NotMyCat2 soon cottoned on to breakfast (BFF was up, I was deep in my pit) and graced us with presence only a couple of times, whereas NotMyCat practically moved in.

The Crown – I take these things with a bucket of salt. However the last episode of season 4 ‘Sandringham’ was filmed at a place I used to work, I’ve been in all the rooms shown and the grounds (built a snowman once), also played the black grand piano (our National Anthem and Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata). I’m bagging that as a claim to fame.

Assuming my VitD levels are okay, as after eight weeks trying to get blood drawn, appointment not until January. Not sure if I’ll get the freebies being muted in the press but I’ll likely take a high dose supplement anyway for the winter months.

23 days until the shortest day and we begin the lightening up process.

Lightening up….roll on, bring it on. It becomes noticeable here, about the end of January and January is a long month.

NMC really does want to offer some companionship. S/he seems to be making huge efforts towards it. You probably have heard that cats choose where they want to be. What a compliment. NMC2 sounds quite mercurial in comparison.

I trust your bucket of salt granules are not too fine. They will grind better if coarse. 😉

Not sure what freebies are being offered. I did note that along with social distancing and lockdown exhortations, there was discussion about the lack of vit D in people who had shielded for long periods and in general, people who couldn’t get out sufficiently to benefit from nature’s annual top up. If this translates into a freebie, surely you should be at the top of the list, even at the dose prescribed for you.

I’m sure all that sanitiser we use when essential shopping is playing havoc, not just with the skin on my hands, but also my finger nails. It sabotages my vit D effort to improve my nails. Hopefully, it’s benefitting the body bits that sanitiser cannot reach!

Sounds to me as if you have a good claim to fame. Xxx

Chess is a game I wanted to be able to play but could never think well ahead enough for. I tried a few early computer versions but it didn’t stick.

Cool that you could get together, and thanks for the list of films. Some are new to me 😊
