Black & Blue Ornery

30 Sep

Nothing in particular just everything in general has set the black cloud of short tempered, lacking patience, general ‘meh’ness.

The sudden change in weather last week was a stinging slap in the face. We were all still merrily enjoying the comfortably warm summer sun, wearing our thin short sleeved tops and light weight bottoms, and then bam, gale force winds, lashings of rain, temperatures dropped by half. No graceful ease into Autumn.

I can’t have the window and internal doors open so no furry visitor and yes I will admit it, I miss the furrball. He might cover me in white hairs, generously, rigorously massage my thighs, command my lap for two or three hours which means I cannot crochet or mess around on the iPad, but he entertains with his asking for attention, amuses with his snores and sleeping chunter, becomes a topic of conversation with my carers (his charm is doing a number on them too). If, if, if, if, things would be different.

Time to pull up the big girl pants are knuckle down to get some stuff done, so October goals……

  • Print off business transaction reports
  • Back-up Mac
  • Upgrade OpSys software
  • Complete Blue Badge renewal
  • Purchase tv signal booster + cable
  • Update website news
  • Finish two cat blankets
  • Make one mouse toy
  • Make one fish toy

There are a few other things I could add, like chase District Nurses who still haven’t been to draw my blood since I contacted them 2nd September, or the contact Orthotics to see if they will do a new brace without any appointments but that’s a sleeping thingy I shy at poking.

I shall have to concede by Canute approach to the season change and throw another log on the radiator (that translates to turn the heating on). Brrrr, I have a feeling it’s going to feel like a long winter.

What opsys updates need doing? I avoid one update. It does, to my relief give me a choice. I need to do a general desktop backup with my SuperDuper. The other one chunters on doing its thing at Time Machine times when the computer is in use. Admin is always seeking attention.

Do the cats give you a tail wag greeting as the patter by? It is a shame they can’t do indoor visits.

The seasons have not minded their P’s and Q’s this year. We were visited by Jack Frost recently. Days feel closer to winter than Autumn.
    Keep safe.
    Xxxx

The MacOS is upgrading from Mojave to Catalina. Lesson learnt to do double back up before tackling, and also do anything important/necessary online wise before starting just in case it turns into a mammoth time consuming headache.

NotMyCat like to sit on top of my wheelie bin directly outside my back donor. He does the pleading eyes and rests a paw on the door handle, racking my sense of guilt up to eleven.

Aw that cat really communicates with you. Pity you haven’t got a cat flap.

I have avoided downloading Catalina. A new,
and said to be more stable OS is in the pipeline. You don’t need Catalina to install it. I have a feeling that my older peripherals will be affected and one or two software packages that cannot be modified for 64Bit. Catalina would certainly affected these things. I can’t remember the name of the new OS. Xxx

Owww, might do some extra digging around t’internet before upgrading.

Sadly cat flap is not an option as the kitchen has no heating so in winter the interior door is always closed. I have an electric heater on a timer in there for the winter months.

I’m intrigued at the conversation about updating. I haven’t ever done one – at least, I’ve pressed the button labelled ‘update’ or ‘automatic update’ but actually updating it myself … is a step too clever for me!

Each year Mac bring out an upgraded operating system. It usually takes an hour or so, but lessons of the past has taught me to back up before pressing the upgrade button.

Oh, what a shame your moggy can’t get in. Could you open the window to let him in then close it again?xxx

Sadly, no. Apart from being totally immobile, I cannot stand or walk. Also my kitchen has no heating so the interior door is closed to keep the rest of my hovel warm.
