Game, Set, and new strawberries please

17 Jul

The past two weeks have delivered a rather welcome distraction from the trials, woes, chaos, stresses, bureaucracy and struggles I am wading through. With the BBC having such extensive Wimbledon coverage online I could switch and flip through numerous matches from 11am until almost bed time.

Boy have there been some thrilling and entertaining games, from the rocketing prowess of the 15 year old Coco Gauff, the epic men’s doubles games and the men’s singles to the antics in the Gents and Senior Gents Invitational Doubles (affectionately known as the old and the dead) with such characters as Mansour Bahrami, Paul HaasHois and Henri Leconte. It has been lovely. But that’s ended for another year *sigh*

Time to get back to my lists of jobs, chores, tasks, bureaucracy and such. So here goes

  • Update Management Company spreadsheets
  • Email Agents for update on works pending
  • Liaise with Director over estate business
  • Order Great-Niece’s birthday present (4 already!)
  • Collate care professionals names, addresses, phone numbers
  • Begin DLA to PIP migration (scary)
  • Amass medical evidence
  • Do own financial evaluation
  • Source home demo powerchairs
  • Update website (1st Aug)
  • Cogitate Mac ‘big project’
  • Go through and weed 300+ saved read emails
  • Finish cat blanket crochet

That should do for starters. None of them are exactly five minute easy jobs and seeing them it looks a little daunting, but I’ll get there one tick at a time.

I got to seeing more of Wimbledon this year than I ever thought I would.

Your ‘doings’ list is impressive. I started writing down some of mine after your last one. I’m debating whether to type it up; I cannot justify the time when, it is quicker and easier to jot. It’s even better to strike-through completions and tick off others that have an ongoing element…..working towards completion.

I’d be interested to know more about what your updating of website entails. is it this one?

What is Mac -big project? I’ve been promising to data cleanse (not completely) mine. I haven’t jotted it onto a doings list. I should. However, I did delete some unwanted files and folders the other day….the tip of the iceberg. It’s something, though not anywhere near as much as I will have to face. Oh dear!

The website update is on the musicians site http://www.stcgibb.com. When it’s a quiet season it’s putting little historical things, trivia things, to maintain regular visitors.

Mac project, likely photos. When iphotos was replaced by photos I’ve two or three libraries than need merging, weeding and reclassifying. Plus I want to save each album of pictures of events as files on an external hard drive as back up.

I watched the latter half of the men’s final and it was riveting. So evenly matched! Hope your surfeit of tennis has made some room for work on that formidable to-do list …

It was rather gripping. Thor men’s doubles final the day before was too.

Slow going on the list, part procrastination part easily distracted.

You me both, photos, years’ worth of them. Editing out will be the first port of call, then sorting genres. Simultaneously editing current pix, some I have let slide, makes it all a job that has a very long road ahead. Xxx

As my camera used to take such huge photos I used to edit them and reduce the pixel count and file size, saving them separately to the originals. I treated them as files, where apps treat them as photo graphics. Just a mere 15 years worth to go through, lol

I’ve done very similar things to you. I have backed originals up to an external HD, essentially, they’re my negatives. They have to be whittled down in tandem with those many pix on my computer HD. I have noticed though, that some of my early pictures seem incompatible with current software. In those early days, pre-2008, I was using Microsoft. Jpegs ought to be universal. Not sure about raw, which is my preferred method of taking photos. I think there are challenges ahead in this department. xxx

I have managed to change photo.jpeg to photo.jpg by changing the name and typing in the .jpg bit. Sometimes it asked for confirmation. Or the other work around is to put the pic up on your screen as large as it can, take a screen grab and then crop the grab and save as your preferred type.
