The Holibobs Blues

23 Oct

Like the weather, my mood has dipped to decidedly chilly since my BFF fly off back home just over a week ago.  I’m sure the seventeen days she was here are the absolutely fastest of the year.  It’s amazing how a few days of simple changes can make such a difference.  Okay, so we are not the most adventurous vacationers, infact our greatest outing was to the cinema.  Spending our days chatting, reminiscing, stitching, playing with ‘Not My Cat’ (didn’t take him long to catch on treat giver was back, lol).

So viewing pleasures ….. I’ve forgotten a few.

  • Funny Girl
  • Funny Lady
  • Churchill
  • Another Mother’s Son
  • Christine
  • Hitchcocks Lifeboat
  • The Girl
  • Breath
  • Shepherd & Butchers
  • Eight Days A Week
  • Love & Mercy
  • Eat Pray Love
  • Before You Go To Sleep
  • Deniel
  • Sully
  • Doc Martin
  • The Marvellous Mrs Maisel

Good food, treat food, tasty food, thoroughly enjoyed and relished.

It’s horrid to say good bye when we know it will be a few months before we are together again.

To add salt to my blue mood, you remember that list, just a few things, that I set to do before BFF arrive Do? Yeah, well, erm, that didn’t go so good either, but that’s for another post.

It does leave a hole in the cushion when good company disappears. The best thing of all is, you know the cushion it will be taken next visit. Best to reserve the dedicated indentation.

Just thinking about your mix of viewing…
    Churchill= Yes

Doc Martin =Yes; though I find the repeats tedious, they get in the way of continuity and I’ve got out of sequence.. I still need to catch up, if it is possible with the separation and repatriation, so-to-speak, if, it happens. Where did they go?

Funny Girl – yes; a long time ago.

Thought I knew Sully, but then decided I had got that mixed up with a similar name, (one letter different).

Eight days a week; I know of that title by the Beatles song. Anything to do with it?

As for the rest; I can only say, Anne-Marie, that your filmic experiences are a lot broader and wider than mine.

Await the next update. 🙂 xxx

Sully – the Tom Hanks movie about landing on the Hudson River, excellent film, love the very last line.
Eight Days A Week – the Ron Howard docufilm about the guys on tour, very interesting.

BFF brings the DVD’s as she collects interesting stuff, her criteria tends to be a true story or based on, DVD under £5. Although we did Amazon Prime a couple of things.

Doc Martin, we watched via the ITV hub so we could catch up on the first series in order.

Each day that passes is a day nearer her return, but when she first goes it’s the furthest point and the deepest wrench. Mind you, we both agree, if we were neighbours we’d get fed up of and irritated by each other, frequently 😂

Oh yes, I think I remember the aircraft landing on The Hudson. If I am right, is that the pilot who took a split second decision to save lives on board and elsewhere and perfectly landed on the river?

The ITV hub might be the way to go; hope there aren’t so many adverts though. I should have recorded what I wanted a long time ago so I could have scooted through the ads…a bit late now.

Last para; a great insight by both of you. Precious time is good. xx

That is the one, it centres on the following investigation …. well worth the watch.

Ads tend to be fewer but repetitive on the hub, so three breaks like on usual tv, but just two or three shorts. Ads cannot be FF-d through.

I remember a time yonks ago, when it was possible to FF the ads. I don’t do hub often, so, when I did use it, it was a sad revelation to see the facility had been programmed out. As you say, it did seem a shorter intervention to my enjoyment. Hey ho.
