New obsessive peeve

16 Jun

It’s all Big Sister’s fault. You see she admitted that when she sees anything depicting the Union Flag she automatically checks to see that the thick white band is at the top.  We were watching something on the news where HM the Queen was somewhere festooned with flags and numerous school children excitedly waving their hastily purchased flags when her calm voice declared “Those flags upside down!”  *blink-blink*  Yes, those poor little darlings were holding hard to the China mass made erroneous flappings

Now she has me at it. During the picnics in the parks for the Queen’s birthday luncheon, I was scanning the various depictions of our nations banner, and when a baddie was found cringing as I thought “I hope she doesn’t see it”.

As I was reading the paper earlier I came across an article where a town has put up numerous flags to decorate their streets across the birthday weekend and intended for them to stay until at least the EU referendum, but one solitary lone resident complained about the flapping sound they made and so the Council removed all of them *roll-eyes*.  They had the photo used at the head of this blog and immediately my mind went, they’re upside down, but it depends because if you tilt your head the other way they are the right way up. I straight away sent the picture to Big Sis so she could become equally confused, lol.

Remember folks, we like it thick on top 😉

I have no idea what you’re talking about. What thick white band? I am completely in the dark.

Guess I’m not quite ready to take that citizenship test after all. 🙃

The diagonal white on the union flag is not even either side of the red diagonal band, the thicker white line is above the red leaving the thinner at the bottom. Maybe I need to add a better picture for the comparison.
