Strike-a-lightning

Was that it?

Four rumbles and a light sprinkling of gentle rain??

Who do I sue???

With the mercury rising higher and higher yesterday, we headed off to meander along the sea-front and visit the model village and pop a few more 2p’s in the old shove machines.  Glorious day, lovely bright sun, just enough of a breeze to be comfortable and cooling.  Not so many ladies squashed into ill fitting attire, more had sensible dressed their rolls in flowing and flattering maxi dresses. Men had not gone for the short shorts and had remembered their under-roos to keep the dangling things neat and tucked.  However the theme of the day seemed to be bumps, babies and buggies.  No end of jolidaymakers pootling along with one on reigns, another in a buggy and a third under construction. One couple had seven and the oldest did not seem school age – mind boggling – and they can afford to come away on holiday!!  Now I know some newspapers do £9.50 getaways, but add travel costs, cot hire, clothing, sun cream, entry fees to attractions, treats and toys, ice-cream and hot-dogs, food and drink and it becomes a not so cheap jolly away on the beach.

Anyway, we did rather well with our 2p’s

This was round one.  Round 2 brought forth 3 rubber ducks, 3 Buddha statues, three ceramic teddies, a bracelet, a me-to-you badge, a duck key ring and probably something else I have forgotten.

Anywayhowwho …. I digress …..

Returning home the weather forecast, national and local, were imparting the “yellow” warning alert for flash flooding with torrential downpours due to fall on dried up ground, the lovely maps had flashing lightning symbols and there was talk of thunder.  The press had some shots of bright white forks of lightning.

Seated at the compy the distant rumble began, then ages later a second closer … oww-err … as the third rumbled ever closer the sky darkened … anticipation got excited …. the air got heavier as the longer louder rumble rolled over.  A super fine spray of soft droplets caressed the dusty paths, taking care not to smatter the recently washed windows.

And that was it!

I feel cheated *hmph*

LOL, yes, We’ve been down “The Strip’ twice now and it is rumoured we might go a third …. which will make three times more than the eight toten years.

As for the beachy area at the bottom and to the right of my street. A bud and I went there about three years ago.

Don’t think it is familiarity more a case of visitor-itis, fed up, annoyed, harrassed by joe publics general stupidity.

The visit was, but the disappointent of a decent thunderstorm and the refreshng nature of a comprehensive downpour were not.

Yes, exactly, they’re not called “tightie whities” for nothing, seems the “slack blacks” brigade were elsewhere.

Sadly though, no bare chested beef cakes to view … even the firebrigade failed to raise an eye brow.
