Boxing Day for us was Christmas Day Part Two – the day when we all gathered together and Tyler got to open the presents that Santa left at Nanna’s House [Santa is clever like that]. Now considering he is a studious little thinker and the day before he had been unwrapping presents left right and centre [including some of his Mum’s, oops] you would have thought that when confronted with *coff*three*coff* over flowing sacks of wrapped gifts he would have been in there like a dog into a pond .. but no … instead he decided to dish out the unwrapped boxes to various people, Granddad for the lion share, followed by Daddy, poor Mummy she only got one, lol. It took us ages to get him to unwrap them, often having to pull a corner free and cajole. Who’d have thought that of lively inquisitive 18-month old!
Once the wrapping had eventually been removed and we all wiggled and shuffled to Rory the Tiger’s rendition of “Purple People Eater’ a mere dozen or so times, we got down to the serious business of playing. A few minutes with the sticklebricks before attempting to get handy with Handy Manny’s tool box, some intense drawing [you could tell Nanna was concentrating the tongue was peeking out the side of her mouth]. I must say that Santa is a very modern fellow these days as not only was a toy dust-buster included but also a mop, broom, brush and dustpan, mild attempts were made to tidy but when asked if he was ready for some dinner there came one of the most precise audible “Yes” ever!
Hours of play ensued, it is dash hard work you know! I think the evidence of the aftermath shown below testifies to that.
Bloody good day though
