Seasonal genius to madness

Tis the season for lists and lifts of lists and deployment of first-class honours degree worthy logistics.  Plus just when you’ve got sorted all plans will change, gets ballsed up and not behave properly.

We are fools to ourselves and do it every year, even though we resolve never again the previous year  We set goals and fail to enjoy the achievement.  Of course we want things to be perfect and smooth and chocolate box [another, oh no I couldn’t I am stuffed with the sausage rolls, mince pies, dates, figs, brandy snaps, turkey, stuffing, pudding, cake … the things I NEVER eat at any other time of year but must because it is Christmas]. I am already exercising my extended index finger to give my Sister a stern warning and severe wagging at, not to go over board, to enjoy the day, to not put undo pressure on herself nor stress over something as daft as “I’ve no dish left to put the cranberry jelly in” [leave it in the jar woman!].

This year the festivities shall be a little different to recent usual.  Tinker-tot-Tyler is at playing age so they will have their own Christmas morning, visit with her family in the afternoon and join us for Christmas Day part 2 on Boxing Day.  No big fancy roast meal, a hart cut and come again buffet.  so we can ALL be in each others company, enjoy the gift, play with the hillock of toys bought for said tinker-tot and do that thing that sometimes gets lost in the lists – be a family together and enjoy.

So, let me see, my list ………. cards 90% done, just need to do the letters.  Gifts bought and this afternoon battle shall commence with the wrapping.  I am ‘on-course’ … wait, phone, brb ….. scrap that, operation sticky tape has been postponed until after visit from someone who is bound to arrive just as I start wrapping their gift!

Bugger it .. luncheon beckons.
