More AFK than AWOL

08 Dec

Stressed-Santa

Yes folks, I am still around, alive, kicking, screaming, pouting and having a good old fashioned childlike tantrum.

Lazing in my bed in the early early hours of the morning I was wondering what to blog – in truth I have been doing this most nights, it was the getting down to it bit that became a problem – should I blog about the jobs list and what has not be done or should I blog about the stuff I have actually done, hmm, but as both were destined to be pretty dismal reading I didn’t, but it was on my mind that regular clickers might be wondering where I have gotten to ….. nowhere, lol.

The past few weeks have been taken up with being lazy, starting a project with a christmas deadline and then panicking it will not get finished in time, scolding myself for not getting down to it sooner and general meh-ness of one self.  Then there is the Yuletide credit card bashing, do i get this for A and that for B and if I get this for C but then find something else, who can I give C’s first gift to and the well if you get H that then i can get this and THEN there are all those inconsiderate buggers who have birthdays in December and January, it shouldn’t be allowed I have a 32, 60, 21, 50 and a 65 birthdays.

I have managed to do my overseas cards and they are being posted today [that my £10 christmas bonus from the DWP gone], but for the first year ever my Sister and my nephew have the family cards written and around to me before  have written mine or done the letter.  We usually combine our family cards into bundles rather than send them separately to each Aunt, Uncle and Cousin.

It is that awkward period in time when everything just needs to come together.  i am waiting for two items to arrive than everything will be here and the horrendous task of wrapping can begin.

My Sister and I were going to make a start yesterday, but first my neighbour interrupted us, then Tesco delivered the grocery, the window cleaner arrived and needed paying, then Brother in Law stopped by to kill an hour before he headed off on his car business, then we got engrossed in something on tv and cosy on the sofa listening to the howling bitter wind make fart noises through my door and before we knew it, it was time for scoffings and watching The Kings Speech.  Eleven hours and nothing we planned came to fruition!!

So folks, I am not AWOL [as in absent without leave not at work on line] more of AFK [away from keyboard].  Right … now I am off to retrieve thicker trousers from the dryer, put on another layer and maybe even possibly start the card writing.

Strike that … … here cometh troubles neighbour again ::sigh::

Whilst the wind is howling outside why not treat yourself to some TV? – reward for knocking a few things off that list.

Everyone understands that we can’t afford to send presents again this year so that has made things a little easier(not that we have a credit card) I’m pleased to say Tesco delivered here last week and today I posted my cards – those abroad I’ve opted out and sent via e mail using the Hallmark Studio programme.

Had hoped that it would only be company on 25th to cater for until my husband informs me that another of his friends is coming on Sunday 18th
now to work out if what I’ve ordered will cover both days?

I have not started the festive season grocery yet, mainly because I cannot be fudged to, lol. As it is just me and I don’t really ‘do’ the sweets, chocolate, treats stuff, I might just get a couple of meal treats, a nice piece of steak or a descent sized salmon steak.

The credit card is more for convenience, in the twenty five years I have had one I have never not cleared the balance. It is easier to use that than try and get to a cash machine.

I did rather achieve a bit today, whilst watching tv as well, lol. And have told myself that if I get all my jobs done by Saturday night I can have sunday tucked under the duvet listening to Radio 4 or a book … a treat indeed

I’ve got used to being everyone’s human google, lol. Most curious request came last summer when asked if I knew who to telephone because the poor seagull had lost her mate and had two chicks to rear all on her own. I don’t think there is a seagull division of social services!!

Still, lol I did get some things done today.
